Brick Honors Its War Dead On Memorial Day
A virtual ceremony honored the men and women who have given their lives fighting for the United States.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township made sure to honor the sacrifices of men and women who gave their lives in war for the United States with a virtual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday.
The virtual ceremony was created after the township canceled its in-person ceremony due the effects of the coronavirus. In-person gatherings are limited to 25 people outdoors under an updated order issued last week by Gov. Phil Murphy.
The virtual ceremony honors soldiers from all over Brick and was put together by veterans organizations in the township with the help of town officials.

There are 21 former Brick Township residents who died as a result of combat, according to research by William J. Duffy, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8867, with names of soldiers as far back as the Civil War.
Duffy and town officials had been working to refurbish Brick's War Memorial, which was to be rededicated Monday.
