Brick Murder Victim Identified As Investigation Continues

Authorities say anyone with information in the case should call the prosecutor's office or Brick police.

BRICK, NJ — As investigators continue their search for answers, authorities identified the victim of a homicide that happened Saturday in Brick Township.

Mark Richard Austin, 55, of Brick, was identified as the victim in the homicide that happened in a home on Acorn Drive in Cedar Bridge Manor, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Brick Township Police Chief James Riccio said in a joint news release.

The release gave no details about how Austin was killed other than to say the investigation is continuing.

Austin was a former licensed home contractor and was turning 56 this month, NJ.com reported, quoting his sister.

Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots, but Billhimer on Sunday said the homicide did not involve a firearm. Authorities were called to the area sometime Saturday evening and were at the home well into the afternoon on Sunday.
