Brick Police Hiring Dispatchers

The police department is accepting applications and will train people for both full-time and part-time positions.

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Police Department is hiring dispatchers.

Dispatchers, known as telecommunicators, "are the first contact in an emergency call for assistance and the heroes behind the scenes," the police department's ad says.

Full-time dispatchers receive a starting salary between $35,000 and $45,000, depending on experience, and part-time dispatchers are paid a per diem rate of $18 to $25, depending on experience.

The full-time positions offer 14 paid holidays, paid vacation, sick and personal time, health benefits, pension and union membership.

Applicants must be 18 years old, high school graduates, and be able to pass a physical, a background check and a mental health evaluation.
