Brick ShopRite Stabbing Victim Was Targeted, Authorities Say
The 44-year-old man is in critical condition; authorities are searching for the person responsible.

BRICK, NJ — A 44-year-old man is in critical condition Tuesday after he was stabbed in the ShopRite parking lot Monday in what authorities say was a targeted attack.
There were no additional details released about the man, who is being treated at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The man was in critical but stable condition as of Tuesday, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Brick Township Chief of Police James Riccio said in a joint news release.
"There is no danger to the public at this time," Billhimer said. "Our investigation indicates this was a targeted attack against the victim."

He said additional information will be released as it becomes available. The investigation is continuing.
Billhimer and Riccio did not give any information on possible suspects.

The man was stabbed in the back about 4 p.m. Monday in the parking lot at ShopRite at the corner of Route 70 and Chambers Bridge Road, authorities said.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is urged to contact Detective Lindsay Woodfield of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, ext. 3989, or Detective Michael Bennett of the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1122.
The Major Crime and High Tech Crime units of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, the Brick Township Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit investigated at the scene.
