Brick Storm Update: Closings, Cancellations March 21
A number of closings happened Tuesday but the list is being updated. Read below.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township police are urging residents to be prepared and stay off the roads as the second wave of a nor'easter moves into the area on Wednesday.
Forecasters have trimmed back their predicted snow totals for much of New Jersey, but "we are still expecting a potentially dangerous storm," police said in a post on Facebook. It's not just the snow that is a concern; strong winds are also expected, making power outages possible, police said,
The massive nor'easter prompted a declaration of a state of emergency by Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday evening, as roads became hazardous. The Ocean County Sheriff's Office issued multiple warnings about the slick conditions, urging motorists to slow down.

Garbage and recycling was expected to be collected on Wednesday, March 21, officials said Tuesday afternoon.
In addition to warnings about hazardous conditions, alerts were issued about closings and cancellations. Further updates will be posted here as warranted.

All branches of the Ocean County Library are closed. The library system had previously announced a delayed opening.
Brick Township schools, St. Dominic's, Donovan Catholic, and the Ocean County Vocational Schools all are closed Wednesday, along with most schools in the state. Read here for information about snow days. The Brick Township Board of Education's special meeting that was set for Wednesday has been postponed.
All Brick Recreation Early Childhood classes and Senior Services activities are cancelled for Wednesday.
Brick Township Municipal Court is canceled for Wednesday. Anyone scheduled to appear in court will be notified of their new appearance dates.
New Jersey state courts, including the Ocean County Courthouse, are closed Wednesday.
Call ahead to businesses before you head out to ensure they are open.

Customers should never go near a downed power line, even if they think it is no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled in trees or other debris.
