Brick Student Faces Discipline In Hoax School Threat: Police
Breaking: A threat on a bathroom wall resulted in a police response and parents picking up students from the school.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township student is facing disciplinary action after school staff found a threat written on a bathroom wall at Veterans Memorial Middle School this week, Brick Township police said Friday.
Police officers responded to Veterans Memorial Middle School on Thursday after the threat was discovered, Sgt. Neal Pedersen said. Officials have not detailed what the threat said.
Pedersen said precautionary measures were taken to insure the safety of everyone in the building, and all school functions proceeded normally.

Parents posting on the Brick Patch Facebook page said students' backpacks were searched as they arrived at school on Thursday and a number of parents picked their children up from school as a result of concerns prompted by the threat.
Pedersen said the investigation identified a student as the school, and that school officials in conjunction with the Brick Township Police Department will be handling the disciplinary process. He did not detail what discipline the student would face.

"We treat any and all incidents at our schools as serious and will always investigate any incident to its furthest extent," Pedersen said. "At no time do we feel the population at Veterans Memorial Middle School was in danger."
In a similar incident in Toms River earlier this month, a 15-year-old student faces criminal charges and disciplinary action from the school district that Superintendent David Healy said could include suspension or even expulsion.
