Bricktoberfest Adds Connect Four Tournament To Festivities

The event, postponed to this Saturday, begins with a 5K race and ends with a bonfire on the beach.

The food truck are coming, the bands are set. And Bricktoberfest promises something for everyone this Saturday, Oct. 10, at Windward Beach Park.

The festivities begin with the Bricktoberfest 5K, which kicks off at 8:30 a.m. Mayor John Ducey will be offering his Mayor’s Challenge in the race again this year, making a donation to Meals on Wheels for every runner who beats him across the finish line.

Last year, Ducey donated $200 to the organization Parents Of Autistic Children as a result of the challenge.

There will be kiddie-sized amusement rides with all-you-can-ride wristbands, and a Connect Four Tournament for older kids. Originally scheduled for the Civic Plaza, the tournament has been moved to Windward Beach Park to be part of Bricktoberfest, Ducey said Tuesday at the Township Council meeting. Brick residents -- the tournament is open to elementary school students through adults -- can click here to sign up. The last resident standing plays the mayor in a giant game of Connect Four, organizers said.

There are food trucks and refreshments, and the beer and wine garden for those 21 and older.

There will be live bands performing at no cost to the township, Ducey said, to showcase their talents.

Township officials also will honor the sports teams from the township’s two high schools, and the night will end with a bonfire on the beach.
