Coronavirus Outbreak Pushes Brick School Board To Online Meeting

The school board will have the meeting livestreamed to allow for social distancing in efforts to slow the spread of the virus.

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Board of Education will hold Thursday's board meeting virtually to follow rules set by the state to help slow the spread of the new coronavirus.

Information on how to watch the meeting and provide public comment will be posted on the school district's website.

On Monday, Gov. Phil Murphy set limits of no more than 50 people on public gatherings across the state in efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. As of Tuesday afternoon, there were 267 positive tests for COVID-19 in New Jersey, and three people have died from it, according to the state health department.

There have been six positives in Ocean County, including two people from Toms River, according to the Ocean County Health Department.

The public portion of the meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m.
