Corrado's Awarded Liquor License In Brick

BRICK, NJ — The owners of Corrado's Market promised shoppers the grocery store that is expected to open next spring will not be a typical market.

And it won't be typical: Corrado's Market will be the first grocery store in Brick to have a liquor license, after its owners were formally awarded the license Monday night at the Brick Township Council meeting.

Corrado's won the bidding on the township's available liquor license — towns can award one license per 3,000 people, under New Jersey liquor license laws — and will pay Brick $575,000, according to the resolution passed Monday night.

The grocery store will be filling about 30,000 to 35,000 square feet in the Laurel Square Shopping Center.

At the time the plan to seek bids on the liquor license was announced, officials said the township wanted to be sure the license would be awarded on the north side of town, citing a number of licenses already in use south of Chambers Bridge Road.

Corrado's Wine & Liquors still has to go through the state and federal background checks that are a required part of the liquor license process in New Jersey.

The store is anticipated to open sometime next spring or early summer, James Corrado said in August.
