Fire Caused By Candle Significantly Damages Brick Home: Police
Authorities said two dogs in the home were safe when first responders arrived at the home in the Herbertsville section.
BRICK, NJ — A fire authorities say was caused by a dog knocking over a burning candle damaged a home in the Herbertsville section on Thursday, Brick Township police said.
The fire at the 19th Avenue home was reported about 11:15 a.m. by a neighbor who saw flames coming out of the windows, police said.
The home was fully involved when first responders arrived, and it took two hours for firefighters to bring it under control, police said.

Two dogs that were in the home were safe when first responders arrived, and there were no injuries from the fire or from firefighting efforts, police said.
Officers and firefighters acted quickly, notifying JCP&L, New Jersey Natural Gas, the Brick Township Schools, and the township building department, and ensuring a safe perimeter around the scene, police said.

The Laurelton, Herbertsville, Breton Woods and Pioneer Hose fire companies all responded, and were assisted by the Brick Township Fire Safety Bureau and the Point Pleasant Boro FAST team, who responded to help with the investigation and administration of the scene.
Brick Township Police EMTs "were there to provide emergency medical support, which was thankfully not needed," police said.
"Chief Forrester would like to thank all the responders who helped get a dangerous situation under control and commend everyone on a job well done," the police department said.
