Lake Riviera MS Cleared To Open After Mold Issue: Brick Officials
Both schools where mold was found have been cleared for occupation on schedule this week, officials said.

BRICK, NJ — Lake Riviera Middle School will open with the rest of the schools in the Brick Township district on Wednesday, following a final report from an environmental company that says the building is safe following mold remediation.
In a notice posted on the Brick school district website, district officials said the final report from Dr. Richard Lynch of Environmental Safety Management Corp. indicated mold levels inside the school "are less than the levels found outside, in the fresh air. He further states that building activities can resume."
A small amount of surface mold was discovered Aug. 27 in six classrooms at the school, a week after a small amount of mold was found in seven classrooms at Emma Havens Young Elementary School.

Lynch, who oversaw the remediation work being done through Insurance Restoration Specialists, said the cause of the mold was most likely the excessive humidity that blanketed the area for much of August.
Follow-up testing cleared Emma Havens Young for a return to building use last week.

The rooms at Lake Riviera were cleaned with a disinfectant, and dehumidifiers and HEPA filter air scrubbers were installed, Lynch said.
The mold levels at Lake Riviera were "1/6 to 1/10 of outdoor levels" during the follow-up testing, he said. The full report can be read below.
Lake Riviera's 6th-grade locker night, postponed after the mold was discovered, will be held Tuesday evening beginning at 6 p.m.
Thank you for your patience and support. We look forward to the start of the new school year.
