Massive Fire At Lakewood Apartment Complex
Smoke from the fire can be seen for several miles, according to witnesses. Traffic in the area is shut down, the sheriff's office said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Authorities are on the scene of a major fire at an apartment complex in Lakewood, according to reports and witnesses.
Smoke from the fire could be seen as far away as Ocean County College in Toms River.
The fire at the apartment complex on Sophee Lane in Lakewood, just off Locust Street. Locust Street is closed between Vermont and New Hampshire avenues as a result of the fire, the Ocean County sheriff's office said in a Nixle alert.

Firefighters from around the area have been called in to battle the massive blaze on the three-story building. An aerial photo posted by 6 ABC in New York showed flames through the roof and spreading across the top of the building.

The apartment complex is in the Covington Village complex off Locust Street.
