JACKSON, NJ — Six Flags Great Adventure is getting ready to open for its 52nd season and promising visitors new enhancements and a major makeover of its Boardwalk area for 2026.

Opening day is set for March 28, the park said, with a special preview for season passholders and members on March 27, where they can get the first coaster rides of the season and check out changes to the dining at the park, officials said.

That includes rides on El Toro, where new sections of track have been installed "for a smoother ride experience," officials said. The coaster, which was shut down for much of 2021 and 2022 before reopening in 2023, has had a reputation for rough rides ever since it opened in 2006.

The main update for 2026 is the "major transformation" of the Boardwalk area, which is expected to open in late spring, the park said. Officials said additional details would be released soon but said it will include new rides, "classic boardwalk food and drink, games, and more."

It is "designed to bring the timeless summer charm of the New Jersey shoreline together with high‑energy thrills for guests of all ages," park officials said.

"The Boardwalk is the latest project in a multi-year investment plan, with additional enhancements taking place across the park, including continued construction on Great Adventure’s new‑for‑2027 coaster," the park said.

The first sections of track for the new coaster arrived in late February.

The first two weeks of the 2026 season are the new Safari Spring Break Celebration, the park said.

The event, from March 28 through April 12, "brings animal encounters, themed entertainment, and immersive photo opportunities" such as up-close wildlife moments and family-friendly shows.

Safari Off‑Road Adventure access from inside the park returns, meaning visitors no longer have to leave the amusement park to go to the safari park.

In addition, the Wild Safari Base Camp and the Savannah Sunset Resort glamping in the Wild Safari return on April 3, officials said. The base camp offers animal interactions, educational presentations, and a standalone safari visit option separate from the amusement park.

Other enhancements for 2026 include improved wifi and refreshed dining locations "offering greater convenience and new menu selections," the park said.

Six Flags has its season passes on sale and is offering specials that include a 3-in-1 pass for Great Adventure, Hurricane Harbor and the Wild Safari, with unlimited visits, along with season pass options that allow people to use their passes at other Six Flags parks on the East Coast and around the United States.

More information on season passes is available on the Six Flags Great Adventure website.
