New Traffic Flow At Veterans Memorial Schools Complex Greets Brick Staff, Parents
The project, the first phase of work on parking lots at the complex, redesigned the bus parking and flow to improve safety.

BRICK, NJ — Parents dropping off students at the Veterans Memorial complex in Brick Township on Tuesday are seeing a reconfigured and repaved parking area between the two schools.
The project is one of several completed over the summer across the Brick Township school district, which opened for the 2017-18 school year on Tuesday.
At Brick Township High School, the east parking lot was repaved and new markings painted. The outdoor track at Keller Memorial Field, which had been in bad shape, has been replaced and is expected to be ready for use in mid-September, officials said. At Warren H. Wolf Elementary School, the roof was replaced.

The project at the Veterans Memorial complex that was completed is the first phase of work that aims to address a number of problems at the site, including potholes and safety issues, officials have said. The area between the middle school and elementary school was reconstructed and the bus drop-off and pick-up area redesigned, officials said in a news release.
"We do encourage students to take the bus to alleviate any unnecessary traffic. However, there are designated areas that are set aside specifically for parents to drop their children off and pick up," the news release said. "Please be cautious and follow the staff’s direction and traffic flow."

Some safety reminders for parents to review with their students:
• Parents should tell their children to look both ways in the parking lot. Even though it might not be a street, cars and buses are coming and going, so looking left and right for traffic is important.
• Please obey the bus lines and car lines.
• No running, horseplay or goofing off should be tolerated in the parking lot.
"All of our school parking lots can be incredibly busy places in the morning when children arrive and in the afternoon when it's dismissal time," the news release said. "Ensuring that no one gets hurt is a primary concern of the school board and the staff, but it requires everyone's participation."
