NJ VFW Honors Kim For Commitment To Veterans' Issues
Kim, whose 3rd District includes much of Ocean County until Dec. 31, was named Legislator of the Year by the NJ Veterans of Foreign Wars.

BRICK, NJ — Rep. Andy Kim of New Jersey's 3rd District has been honored by the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars for his efforts in Congress to support veterans.
Kim, whose district includes (until Dec. 31) the highest population of veterans in New Jersey, was awarded Legislator of the Year by the statewide VFW organization.
“The New Jersey VFW is grateful to Congressman Kim for his work on behalf of New Jersey veterans. It’s clear to us that Congressman Kim puts veterans first,” said Brian Wiener, legislative director of New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Kim, who was elected to the House in 2018, serves on the House Armed Services Committee and has repeatedly spoken about veterans issues and worked to address them, including efforts to increase veteran suicide prevention outreach programs and the work to help get a state-of-the-art VA community health care clinic in Ocean County to serve veterans closer to their homes. Ground was broken on the clinic in May and it is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2024.
He holds monthly town hall conversations with veterans groups in his district, and was at VFW Post 8867 in Brick for a monthly meeting when he was honored.

"It’s an honor to work on behalf of New Jersey veterans every single day," he said.
"Those who sacrificed for our country remind us what it means to serve and dedicate our lives to our community," Kim said. "I’m proud to ensure veterans in this community are taken care of and the benefits they have earned are received in full."
Wiener said Kim "puts party politics aside and works hard, doing what needs to be done for veterans to make sure we get the care we need. We’re grateful to Congressman Kim for his work and hope to continue working with him to achieve more for America’s veterans."
Congressional redistricting moves much of Ocean County to the 4th District, where Republican Chris Smith and Democrat Matthew Jenkins are seeking the House term that is up for a vote in November and begins in January 2023.
