Teen Sets Cars On Fire, Smashes Windshield In South Jersey, Police Say

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 19-year-old was arrested in connection with two car fires and other criminal acts in South Jersey, the Washington Township Police Department said.

Aiden Logrande, of Turnersville, was charged with arson, criminal mischief, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

On Saturday, at around 9:45 p.m., officers responded to Tara Drive for a report of a vehicle that was intentionally set on fire.

A man was seen smashing the back window of a parked car, pouring a flammable liquid inside, and setting the car on fire in the home's surveillance footage.

Around the same time, a second vehicle fire was reported in the Harrogate Court and Tenby Drive area.

Officers searched the surrounding areas and found a man who matched the description of the suspect. They also found a hatchet that is believed to have been used during the crimes, authorities said.

Detectives also charged Logrande with offenses related to cases in the Washington Place/Bunker Hill development.

Additional charges for other broken windshield cases are pending.

Logrande was taken to the Salem County Correctional Facility to await a court hearing.
