The $4.6 million construction project the old concrete-and-timber bridge with one of concrete and steel is anticipated to be finished by late February or early March 2019, officials have said. The new bridge will be 111 feet long and 49 feet wide and include a 6-foot-wide sidewalk on the west side of the bridge.
The entire bridge was closed in early November when engineers and the contractor discovered the support timbers and concrete footings of the existing bridge, built in 1962, had significant deterioration, officials have said. One lane reopened for northbound traffic in early February.
