The chair symbolizes those who gave their lives in military service and never came home and was placed at the high school to honor alumni.
BRICK, NJ — Brick Township High School alumni who gave their lives in military service for the United States were honored Wednesday as a POW/MIA Chair of Honor was dedicated at the high school.
The ceremony, with students and Rolling Thunder, an organization dedicated to educating the public about POW/MIA service members, was held in the high school auditorium.
The Chair of Honor is very simple yet powerful symbol: A single black chair with the POW/MIA logo, which is then flanked by the American flag and the POW/MIA flag, along with a plaque explaining the Chair of Honor.

The POW/MIA organization says there are more than 91,000 servicemen who remain unaccounted for since World War I. The Chair of Honor program was created to bring attention to that and to honor the sacrifices of those families whose servicemen have never come home.
Acting Superintendent Dennis Filippone tweeted photos of the ceremony, saying, "Today I had the privilege of attending a ceremony at Brick High School honoring graduates who gave their lives in service to our country."
