Revised Route 70 Wawa Plan In Brick Approved: Report
The approved plan is an amended version of a plan that was rejected by the zoning board in March.

BRICK, NJ — A revised plan to build a Wawa at the corner of Route 70 and Duquesne Boulevard was approved Wednesday night by the Brick Township Board of Adjustment, according to a report.
The Asbury Park Press reported the amended application by Brick 70 Developers and Paramount Realty Group, which included requests for eight variances for the Wawa and a quick-serve restaurant and completely eliminates any access to or from Lake Shore Drive, was unanimously approved.
In late March, theoriginal application was denied when only four members of the zoning board voted in favor of it. At that time, Brick 70 Developers was seeking more than a dozen variances, and a number of residents of Lake Riviera, which backs up to the site, expressed significant concerns about the traffic impact and safety issues.

The original application called for a 5,585-square-foot Wawa with a 12-fuel pump gasoline station with an overhead canopy, and a 4,813-square-foot restaurant with a drive-through facility. The amended application reduced the size of the restaurant to 4,362 square feet and reduced the parking spaces to 104 from 125, according to the report. The buildings will sit on a site that is five lots that are being consolidated into one piece of property that encompassess just shy of 5 acres but is oddly shaped.
It is the last piece of wooded property on the south side of Route 70 between Duquesne/Lake Shore Drive and Shorrock Street.
