Route 70 Fatal Crash: Brick Schools Offer Counseling For Students, Staff In Wake Of Teen's Death
The Brick Memorial sophomore was killed when he was struck by a car while bicycling across Route 70 on Saturday night, officials said.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township School District students and staff are being offered counseling Monday in the wake of the death of a Brick Memorial sophomore who was killed in a motor vehicle accident Saturday night.
Drew Aponte, 15, was killed Saturday night when he was hit by a Subaru Forrester as he crossed Route 70 at Burnt Tavern Road on a bicycle, officials said. Brick Township police have not released the teenager's name but a statement Sunday evening from Acting Superintendent Dennis Filippone and the Board of Education identified him.
"The entire Brick Township school community mourns the loss of this student and sends our deepest sympathy to the Aponte family," the statement said.

Staff and students are encouraged to take advantage of counseling that will be offered at Brick Memorial High School from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, Filippone said.
