'No Imminent Danger' Found As Middle School Student's Photo With Firearm Probed: Brick PD

A photo posted by a Lake Riviera Middle School student was investigated and the situation addressed, Brick authorities said.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township police say there is "no imminent danger to the school" and no credible threat after investigating a photo a student posted on social media with what appeared to be a firearm.

In a joint message posted on the police department's Facebook page, the police department and the Brick Township Schools said the student from Lake Riviera Middle School had posted the photo on Wednesday.

"Brick Police working with school officials have identified the student and addressed the situation," the statement said.

"There is no credible threat at this time and no imminent danger to the school," authorities said.

Authorities did not say which social media site was used to post the photo and did not describe the content of the photo beyond saying it appeared to include a firearm.

Police Chief David Forrester praised Lake Riviera Middle School administration "for acting so swiftly on this incident," officials said. "Brick Schools and Brick Police are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all our students, staff, parents and community."

The statement said the authorities wanted "to assure the community we always take such incidents seriously and will investigate all threats to their lawful conclusion."

"Threats and suspicious activity can be reported directly to the police, to school officials or by using the WeTip link on the school website," authorities said.
