Student's Threatening Snapchat Under Investigation In Brick
An item seen in the Snapchat was found to be a lighter, not a firearm; there were no firearms at the student's home, authorities said.
BRICK, NJ — Authorities are continuing to investigate after a Lake Riviera Middle School student made threatening statements on Snapchat Wednesday night to several of his friends, Brick Township police said Thursday.
A joint statement from the police department and the Brick Township School District said a parent reported the Snapchat post, in which the student appeared to have a firearm, to the police department, which then worked with the school district to identify the student.
Detectives searched the student's home and no firearms were found, and investigators determined the item seen in the Snapchat was a lighter, the statement said.
