SUV Crashes Into Irv And Karen's Pastrami Deli On Route 88

BRICK, NJ — Authorities are investigating after an SUV crashed into the front of Irv and Karen's Hot Pastrami Deli on Route 88 on Friday afternoon, Brick Township police said.

The driver, a 70-year-old man, was taken to the hospital, police said. His hometown and information on his injuries were not immediately available.

The crash happened after 3 p.m.; Irv and Karen's is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Photos shared on social media showed a red SUV crashed through the front wall at the end of the building closest to Truman Drive, where the building ends. The glass window and the concrete block wall were broken. One photo showed damage to the side wall and window as well.

Brick police said township building inspectors were at the site trying to determine whether that portion of the building is structurally sound.
