BRICK, NJ — Target on Route 70 has reopened Tuesday afternoon after a bomb threat was determined to be unfounded, Brick Township police said.

In a statement on the department's Facebook page, Brick Township Police Chief David Forrester said the store was closed as authorities responded to "an unverified threat that came to us today through a reputable news agency."

Authorities in several states, including Ohio, Wisconsin and North Carolina, have said the threats appear to be part of a nationwide hoax. Similar threats were made to stores in Middletown and Clark in New Jersey.
