Van Zile Closed For Utility Pole Replacement: Brick Police

Breaking: The pole was broken in a crash early Monday morning and was blocking the road.

BRICK, NJ — Van Zile Road remains closed Monday afternoon between Tina Lee Court and National Avenue as utility crews replace a broken utility pole, Brick Township police said.

A Nixle alert urges motorists to avoid the area as work continues. The crash, which happened about 4:30 a.m., brought the pole and wires across the road, according to an earlier Nixle alert from police. It was one of three crashes in the Brick and Lakewood areas Monday morning.

Police have not released details on the crashes.

It was unknown how long the Van Zile closure will remain in place. It is northwest of the entrance to the Veterans Memorial school complex and is not preventing traffic in and out of the complex.
