Want Wegmans In Brick? Tell Them, Mayor Says
Brick challenges residents to show the company it's wrong about a lack of demand for the food store. #BrickTownshipWantsAWegmans

BRICK, NJ -- So you say you want a Wegman's in Brick? Tell the company, Mayor John Ducey says.
In fact, he has challenged Brick Township residents to mount a social media campaign to get the company's attention.
"One thing that has been made abundantly clear to me is that the residents of Brick Township want a Wegmans built here. It is one of the most frequent requests I have heard from residents over the past several years,” Ducey said Tuesday night during his remarks at the end of the Brick Township Council meeting.

Ducey said he and township officials have been in contact with the company, and the response they have gotten was less than enthusiastic.
“They do not feel that there is sufficient demand," he said.

There are about 346,000 residents in Brick and the surrounding communities of Howell, Wall, Lakewood and Toms River, Ducey said, which should be more than enough to support a Wegmans. And with the closure of Pathmark in the Laurel Square Plaza, there is a large commercial space to be filled, he said.
How can you let Wegmans know they're wanted?
Ducey urged residents to take to Facebook and post on the Wegmans Facebook page telling the company to open a store in Brick, with the hashtag #BrickTownshipWantsAWegmans. Twitter users can tweet to the company at the Twitter handle @Wegmans, again with the #BrickTownshipWantsAWegmans tag.
Emails to the company can be sent to shoppersclub@wegmans.com.
