Prosecutors say these cold cases suffer from limited evidence and witness cooperation, and they’re asking anyone with even small details to contact the Major Crimes Unit to potentially move these cases forward.

2. Bridgeton man charged with kidnapping after kids left in car (wobm.com) — Bridgeton police have identified a local man as the suspect in a recent incident where a running car with two young children inside was taken from the Wawa on East Broad Street. The children were found safely a short time later, but the suspect remains at large as of Tuesday. Police are urging residents not to leave vehicles running and unattended and are asking anyone with information to contact them.

3. NJ layoffs surge past 6,600 as plants and hotels cut jobs (palivingnews.com) — A longtime Danone North America plant in Bridgeton is shutting down after more than two decades, cutting 114 local jobs as part of a wider wave of layoffs across New Jersey. The closure adds to thousands of WARN-notice job losses statewide, including factory, hotel, banking, and cargo positions. Bridgeton workers now face tough decisions as the plant winds down operations.

4. WinnDevelopment Kicks Off $33 Million Rehab of Atlantic City Affordable Housing Complex (jerseydigs.com) — A Bridgeton-based nonprofit, Gateway Community Action Partnership, has partnered with WinnDevelopment on a $33 million renovation of the Garden Court Apartments affordable housing complex in Atlantic City. The project, using state tax credits and a city PILOT agreement, will modernize 177 units and community spaces while preserving affordability for 45 years, with completion expected in fall 2027.

5. Gerald B. Schreiber (jewishexponent.com) — Bridgeton readers are remembering native son Gerald B. Shreiber, the visionary entrepreneur who turned a tiny soft pretzel shop into global snack giant J & J Snack Foods. The 84-year-old animal advocate, Israel supporter, and Philly sports superfan died May 9, leaving a large, close-knit family and a legacy of hard work, generosity, and love for his New Jersey roots.
