2 Men Armed With Gun, Knife Steal Car Near Bridgewater: Cops

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the carjacking that happened on Friday night.

BOUND BROOK, NJ — Authorities are investigating a carjacking where police say two men armed with a gun and a knife stole a car in the Bridgewater area.

At around 10 p.m., a Bound Brook man stopped his 2011 gray Hyundai Sonata in the area of Talmage Avenue and Fisher Avenue to help a passenger out of the car, said Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

When the resident got back to his car, he was approached by two unknown men who showed a gun and a knife and demanded to take the car, said Robertson.

The two men described as being in their early 20’s, medium height and thin build, wearing all black clothing with black ski masks entered the car and drove away towards Bridgewater, said Robertson.

The victim was not injured.

The car was recovered later that night in Middlesex Borough as an abandoned/disabled vehicle. No arrests have been made and detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit along with detectives from the Bound Brook Police Department are investigating.
