2nd Aftershock Rattles Somerset County After 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake

A second aftershock was reported in the Gladstone area on Friday night.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A second aftershock was reported in the Somerset County area on Friday night.

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake detected, epicenter identified 7 kilometers southwest of Gladstone was reported around 6 p.m., according to the United States Geological Survey(USGS), which monitors earthquakes.

"Aftershock confirmed from previous earthquake. Please do not call 9-1-1 unless there is an actual emergency!" Said Bridgewater Police.

"Aftershocks have been felt in our area. Contact 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency only," said Montgomery Police.

A previous aftershock was reported at 12 p.m., a magnitude 2.0 earthquake was detected with the epicenter identified 7 kilometers west of Bedminster, according to USGS.
