4 Injured As Driver Cuts Across Route 22, Causing Crash Into Pole: Police
Antone Celius, 51, of South Bound Brook, was issued multiple summonses for the Easter Sunday crash, said police.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Four people were taken to a hospital with injuries following an Easter Sunday crash into a pole on Route 22 in Bridgewater.
On March 31 at around 3:20 p.m., Bridgewater Township Police Officers went to Route 22 East for a report of a two-vehicle crash, with injuries, and a downed utility pole.
The investigation found that a 2022 Tesla Model 3 being driven by Antone Celius, 51, of South Bound Brook, entered the left lane of Route 22 East from Commons Way, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Frederick J. Brittain III.

Celius came to a complete stop in the left lane of Route 22 East, then turned right across all three lanes of travel, and hit a 2016 Honda Odyssey that was driving in the right lane of Route 22 East, said Brittain III.
The crash caused the Honda Odyssey to run off the roadway to the right and hit a utility pole at the intersection of Route 22 East and North Bridge Street, said Brittain III.

Four people in the Honda Odyssey were taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital (New Brunswick) for injuries sustained as a result of the crash.
Celius was issued the following summonses unsafe lane change, careless driving, and reckless driving.
As a result of the crash, Route 22 East was closed for several hours to repair the utility pole and to lift the low-hanging wires that were across the highway.
