5 Cars That Won't Break the Bank

These cars are all under $5,000.

If you’re looking for a great new ride to get your day started off just right, we’ve got some vehicles being sold right around the corner.

We've talked about saving gas money, the expenses aligned with vehicles and all the extras that come associated with that perfect vehicle. But we feel a little bad for recommending spending so much money all the time. So this week, we want to take a step back and go to the extreme by offering five options for used vehicles that are on the market for less than $5,000—because we know sometimes it really is "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems."

1. 2001 Kia Sephia — Used — $1,997

From Cars.com: Yes, it has 67,986 miles on it already, but you can't really beat that price for a vehicle. Plus, it's got tinted glass, two-speed intermittent windshield wipers and reclining front bucket seats—perhaps not the most upgraded features, but, hey, as long as it gets you from point A to point B, right?

Available at North Plainfield Nissan on Route 22 in North Plainfield.

2. 2000 Nissan Quest GLE — Used — $3,500

From Cars.com: This car, with 120,000 miles already on it, will take you back to a much simpler time—when there was a cassette radio in your vehicle and you could listen to those old '90s tapes.

Being sold privately by calling Ameer at 631-276-9282.

3. 2000 Ford Taurus SE — Used — $3,995

From Cars.com: It's got 112,536 miles on it at this point, and this vehicle has an AM/FM radio, tilt steering wheel and four-speed transmission. It's all the features you needed before we realized how many more features we could have.

Available at JRM Auto Brokers on New Market Avenue in South Plainfield.

4. 2002 Saab 9-3 SE — Used — $4,222

From Cars.com: With 91,826 miles on it, this car has a keyless entry, climate control, daytime running lights, power windows, power steering and lots of other things that let you drive the car without really driving the car (and while that may sort of make sense, please make sure you are actually driving the car).

Available at Fullerton Auto Group on Route 22 in Somerville.

5. 2005 Toyota Matrix XR — Used — $4,765

From Cars.com: It's got 150,675 miles on it, and this newly listed vehicle has rear drum brakes, stainless steel exhaust, front rear stabilizer bars and rear torsion beam suspension—we don't actually know what all that means, but it sounds exciting, right?

Available at Open Road of Bridgewater on Route 22.
