6 Students Injured In School Bus Crash After Pickup Runs Red Light On Route 22: Police

The pickup truck driver admitted to disregarding the red light on Route 22 before hitting the school bus on Monday, said police.

BRANCHBURG, NJ — Multiple students were injured after a pickup truck ran a red light and crashed into their school bus in Branchburg, police said.

On Monday at 8:36 a.m., Jesse Goehring, 41, of Hampton, was driving on Route 22 East when he disregarded a red light and tried to cross the intersection at County Line Road, according to the Branchburg Police crash report.

The investigation found the school bus, carrying 14 students, was driving south on County Line Road with a green light when the crash happened.

The front of Goehring’s GMC Sierra pickup truck hit the back passenger-side bumper of the bus, according to the report.

Six students complained of pain to the first aid squad, according to the report.

Goehring and his front-seat passenger, who was a juvenile, were both uninjured.

Goehring’s vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Kovi Towing. The school bus sustained moderate damage to the rear passenger-side bumper and was driven away from the scene by its driver.

According to the investigation, Goehring admitted that he disregarded the traffic light that was red for his lane of travel.

Police issued Goehring summonses for disregarding a traffic control device and careless driving.
