7 Injured After Serious Crash At Route 22 Intersection In Bridgewater

The two-car crash happened just after 2 a.m. on Sunday in the township sending all 7 people to the hospital.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Seven people were injured, two critically, and sent to the hospital following a serious two-car crash at a Route 22 intersection in Bridgewater on Sunday.

On June 11, at 2:09 a.m., the Bridgewater Township Police Department was called to a serious two-car crash at the intersection of Route 22 and Vosseller Avenue.

Officers found a 2004 Honda Civic and a 2016 Kia Sedona, both disabled in the intersection with heavy damage with a total of seven people who were injured, two critically, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Kevin Lamey.

The Honda Civic was being driven by Jose Cruz Villanueva Izaguirre, 24, from Plainfield. Also in the vehicle were two adult passengers and one teenage juvenile passenger.

All four occupants suffered from serious injuries. One passenger was found to be unresponsive in the backseat, suffering from severe head trauma, said Lamey.

All four were taken by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson(RWJ) Hospital in New Brunswick.

The Kia Sedona was being driven by Elhabib Alhoudh, 56, from North Brunswick. Also in the vehicle were two adult rear-seat passengers, one suffering from a serious internal injury. All three were taken by ambulance to RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick.

A preliminary investigation found that the Honda Civic was driving east on Route 22 when it entered the intersection and hit the Kia Sedona, said Lamey.

The Kia Sedona was making a left turn onto Route 22 from the north side of Vosseller Avenue when it was hit, said Lamey.

This crash is still under investigation by the Bridgewater Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
