BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The owner of Bridgewater Commons Mall has filed a lawsuit alleging Redstone American Grill defaulted on its lease and owes more than $2.8 million.
According to the lawsuit filed April 14 in Somerset County Superior Court, Bridgewater Commons Mall II, LLC said it entered into a lease with Redstone American Grill, Inc. around March 31, 2015.
It claims that Redstone is in default of the lease for rents and payments totaling $2,842,450.58.
The complaint also states that a demand for payment was made, but Redstone failed to pay.
The mall is not only seeking the unpaid rent but also interest, attorneys' fees, costs, and disbursements.
"As this is an active legal matter, we are unable to comment at this time," Bridgewater Commons told Patch.
A request for comment to Redstone American Grill was not immediately returned to Patch.
Redstone American Grill had initially opened in December 2016, offering an Americana-inspired menu with aged steaks, fresh seafood and award-winning BBQ.
In January, the restaurant had initially announced a temporary closure due to staffing.
A sign posted outside the restaurant in February also mentioned the temporary closure. However, when visiting Redstone's website, the Bridgewater location has since been removed.
However, the restaurant never reopened. See Related: Redstone American Grill Closes Bridgewater Commons Location
