Bomb Squad Finds Suspicious Object In Bridgewater To Be 'Safe'
Bridgewater Police closed Milltown Road on Sunday night to investigate a suspicious metal object found in the parking lot of Greenway Park.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A suspicious metal object found at a Bridgewater Park on Sunday night was found to be "safe," Bridgewater Police said.
At 6:26 p.m. police went to Greenway Park at 517 Milltown Road in Bridgewater for a report of a suspicious metal object in the parking lot, Lt. John Mitzak said.
A safety perimeter was set up and the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad checked out the object, Mitzak said.

Police sent out an alert to residents around 7:30 p.m. asking them to avoid Milltown Road near Shields Lane and Traci Road.
The object, an Acetylene tank, was found to have been discarded in the parking lot. Bridgewater detectives are investigating if this was accidental or intentional, Mitzak said.

Police checked the rest of Greenway Park and "determined the area to be safe," Mitzak said.
Milltown Road was reopened around 9:30 p.m.
