Bound Brook Man Kicked In Door, Fired Gun At Man: Prosecutor

BOUND BROOK, NJ — A Bound Brook man was charged in connection with a shooting in the borough after police say he kicked in an apartment door, argued with another man and then fired a gun at him.

Mohamed Hussein, 35, of Talmage Avenue, Bound Brook was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon without a permit and fourth-degree possession of hollow-point ammunition, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

On Nov. 5, at about 8:48 a.m., Bound Brook Police Department got a 911 call reporting shots fired in the area of Talmage Avenue.

Officers spoke to a Bound Brook resident who said a man later identified as Hussein wearing a green sweatshirt kicked in his apartment door and began a verbal argument with him.

The resident said he left his apartment and went to the back of the building to fight Hussein. While walking to the back of the building, the resident saw Hussein raise his arm and heard a shot. The resident was uninjured, said Robertson.

Hussein was identified as the man involved in the shooting following an investigation by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit along with detectives from the Bound Brook Police Department.

On Nov. 5, Hussein was taken into custody by the Bound Brook Police Department without incident. He was lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing in this matter.
