Branchburg Man Killed In Route 202 Crash: Police

The two-car crash blocked both lanes on Route 202 north in Branchburg on Tuesday morning.

BRANCHBURG, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal two-car crash where a Branchburg man was killed on Tuesday morning.

At around 10:50 a.m., two cars crashed and were blocking both lanes on Route 202 North in the area of North Branch River Road in Branchburg, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

One of the drivers, Henry J. Herschell Jr., 61, Branchburg was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The other driver, a 49-year-old Flemington resident, had internal injuries and was being treated at an area hospital, Robertson said.

Both drivers were the only people inside their cars at the time of the crash.

The fatal crash is being investigated by Branchburg Township Police along with investigators from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART).
