NJ-Based Golfsmith Files For Banckruptcy
Founded in an Edison home, the national chain store with locations in Bridgewater, Golfsmith has filed for bankruptcy.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The New Jersey-founded business, Golfsmith, with locations in Bridgewater, has declared bankruptcy.
Golf International Holdings LP filed for Chapter 11 on Wednesday and already has a buyer. Golf Town's purchase will provide a sustainable capital structure and retail footprint moving forward, and provide stability for customers, suppliers, employees and other key stakeholders, according to the release.
The company was founded inside a home in Edison in 1967 and now has 109 stores in the United States operating under the Golfsmith banner and 55 stores in Canada operating under the Golf Town banner.

Golfsmith has four New Jersey locations in Bridgewater, East Brunswick,Moorestown and West Paterson.
"Today represents a significant step forward for the long term-viability of the Golf Town and Golfsmith businesses," said David Roussy, Chief Executive Officer of the Company. "We will continue in our commitment to provide our customers with the exceptional service and high-quality golf products they have come to expect from us."
