BSA Troop 88 – Honors Four New Eagle Scouts

Boy Scout Troop 88 in Bridgewater is honored to announce that Kyle J. DeGraw, Sunny Aggarwal, David C. Hayward and Jack Pollard have recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest level in Scouting. An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held on May 20th at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church in Pluckemin, New Jersey. At the ceremony, the Township of Bridgewater presented each Eagle Scout with a Proclamation of Outstanding Achievement. Each new Eagle also received an American flag that had been flown over the U.S. Capitol in their honor. This was arranged through the courtesy of Senator Cory A. Booker. The Four scouts were also honored to receive dozens of letters of commendation.

Kyle J. DeGraw achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on June 15, 2015. He has served as a senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, Troop Scribe, Troop Instructor, Patrol Leader and Junior Assistant Scout Master for Troop 88. He has attended many Boy Scout Summer Camps earning his many merit badges. He has also embarked on several high-adventure trips during his enrollment in the troop. His 135-manhour service project included gluing approximately 600 metal medallions on the sewer inlets on the roads phon Washington Valley Road. The medallions read on the top “NO DUMPING DRAINS TO WATERWAY”. Kyle is a senior and an Honor Roll student at Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School. Therein he was a member of the First Robotics Club and The Boys Cross Country Team. Kyle enjoys playing golf, camping and the beach. Kyle will be attending college in the fall majoring in Meteorology.

Sunny Aggarwal achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on August 11, 2015 Scout Troop 88 in Bridgewater, NJ. He has served as Senior Patrol Leader for his troop, not once, but twice in the summer of 2012 and Winter 2015. Other positions he has served in include Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Scribe, Troop Instructor, Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader. He has attended many Boy Scout Summer Camps earning his total of 24 merit badges. He has also embarked on several high-adventure trips during his enrollment in the troop. His 64-manhour service project included collecting gathering GPS and condition information on all of the Township storm sewer inlets in the Vanderveer and Thomae sections of Bridgewater and placing environmental protection medallions on each grate. Sankalp is now a freshman at UC Berkeley pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Therein he is a member of the Robotics Club, Bitcoin Club, and Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. He enjoys working with technology, reading about history, and scuba diving

David Craig Hayward earned the rank of Eagle Scout on January 4, 2016 at the age of 15. He has been an active member of Troop 88, serving as Troop Guide, Troop Instructor and Librarian. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow, Woapalanne Lodge. David has attended Scout summer camps, as well as a 50-mile canoe trek at Sabattis. He has been the Troop top popcorn seller and a Council top-ten seller, with a total of over $10,000 in sales. To date, he has earned 48 merit badges. His 240 hour Eagle Scout service project included designing and building three bridges and putting down 29 tons of stone on Gene King Park Trail. He is an honor roll student and presidential award recipient at Bridgewater Raritan Schools. He is a confirmed member of his church where he has participated with the youth group on a week-long work trip to The Pittsburgh Project. David has worked at Ockanickon Scout Reservation as a camp counselor.

Jack Pollard received the rank of Eagle Scout on February 1, 2016. Bridgewater, New Jersey. He has held the positions of Patrol Leader, Librarian, Quartermaster, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Troop Guide. He has earned 26 merit badges during his time as a scout, including two from the set of four that were brought back for the 2010 one hundred year anniversary of the founding of Boy Scouts, namely Tracking and Pathfinding. His Eagle Project was designing, fabricating and installing bat houses for Bridgewater Township Parks. He installed multiple bat houses in Thomae, Cedar Brook, Ardmaer, and Gene King Parks. He also built and donated a dozen bat houses to the Somerset County Park Commission for placement in county parks. The project took over 180 man hours to complete. It will encourage bats to live in the parks, where they will eat many of the mosquitoes in the area. Jack Pollard is currently a junior at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, where he is an honor roll student. Jack spent 3 summers working at Watchung Cub Scout Day Camp at Watchung Reservation, and now currently works at Reading Cinemas in Manville
