Bridgewater Dad Arrested For Owing $8K in Child Support: Sheriff

Forty-four parents were arrested for owing a combined total of nearly $1 million in child support.

The arrests were made by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office as part of a statewide sweep conducted last month through NJ Kids, according to Sheriff Frank Provenzano.

Rafael Espinosa, 36, of Bridgewater was among the men and women arrested. Espinosa owed $8.830.96 as of Feb. 3.

Dax T. Gallimmore, 45 of South Bound Brook owed the most with a total of $201,405.24 as of Feb. 3.

Althogether the 44 parents owed about $867,416.14 in child support.

Also apprehended were Joseph Costin of Franklin, who was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant from Ocean County, with bail set at $2,500 bail, and Jermaine Bailey of Plainfield, who was arrested on an outstanding violation-of-probation, no-bail warrant from Somerset County.

“This operation was conducted to remind parents of the importance of making regular child support payments and hopefully renew their commitment to do the right thing,” said Sheriff Provenzano. “Child support is a safety net for many Somerset County families. Children depend on child support for their basic needs such as food, shelter, healthcare and back-to-school clothing. Conducting these roundups gives us the ability to better serve children and families with the financial support they need and deserve.”

The Sheriff’s Office will continue to look for parents delinquent in failing to pay child support. Anyone with information on someone with outstanding child support warrants is asked to contact the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office at 908-231-7140, ext. 9.
