Bridgewater High School Goes Virtual After 3rd Coronavirus Case
Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School is switching to all virtual learning for the next 2 weeks after its 3rd positive coronavirus case.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School is switching to all virtual learning for the next 2 weeks following its third positive coronavirus case.
The most recent case was reported on Thursday, Interim Superintendent of Schools Thomas Ficarra announced in a letter late Thursday night just before 11 p.m.
This case adds to the two other cases reported on Monday by the district. This case also brings the district total to four, with the fourth reported at Hillside Intermediate School this past Sunday. All of the cases come two weeks after the BRRSD officially reopened for in-person, hybrid learning on Oct. 12. Read More: 3 Positive Coronavirus Cases At Bridgewater's Schools

"After working with the local health department to analyze the facts and circumstances of these cases and to complete contact tracing, we have decided to move all students at Bridgewater-Raritan High School to all remote instruction for 14 days effective Friday, October 23," Ficarra said.
In addition, all athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for the next two weeks, Ficarra said.

All other district schools will remain open as normal on Friday, Oct. 23.
Ficarra asked parents and students to continue following the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) promoted safeguards, such as:
- Staying home when you are sick;
- Washing hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds;
- Covering coughs and sneezes and properly disposing of tissues;
- Limiting close contact with people who are sick and not sharing food, drinks and utensils;
- Practicing social distancing (staying at least 6 feet apart);
- Wearing a face covering while in school; and
- Continuing to monitor your health for symptoms.
As of Wednesday, Bridgewater is reporting a total of 590 cases and 67 deaths.
