Bridgewater HS To Crack Down On Vaping
"We have zero tolerance for these devices... any student in possession of a vape/e-cigarette will be suspended for 3 days": BRRHS principal.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Students caught vaping or using e-cigarettes at Bridgewater Raritan Regional High School will be suspended, Principal Mark Morrell announced in a letter to parents.
"We have zero tolerance for these devices," Morrell said. "As per Board policy and our student handbook/code of conduct, any student in possession of a vape/e-cigarette will be suspended for three days."
Morrell sent out a letter to high school parents this month alerting them to the new devices and the nicotine infused liquids being used on school grounds.

One of the most common type of device Morrell reported seeing is the Juul (jewel) that has liquid nicotine flavored pods. One pod contains nicotine equal to a pack of cigarettes.

The device looks like a USB drive, is small, and easily concealed. The device charges with an iPhone charger or USB port. The flavors can be mint or fruit flavored.
"The days of smelling smoke have been replaced by these scents," Morrell said.
He also noted that it is possible that these devices can be used for marijuana oils.
If caught, the units will be turned over to the Bridgewater police for testing of the substance. If the test reveals a positive result for marijuana or other dangerous substances, the student will incur a 10-day suspension and be required to meet with a student assistance counselor.
"It is my hope that working together we can discourage the use of these dangerous units. I appreciate your cooperation in promoting the safety of all of our students," Morrell said.
Morrell also include a link to the FDA website for more information.
