Bridgewater Local Among 3 Charged With DWI

A Bridgewater woman was also charged with marijuana possession following a crash on Promenade Boulevard, police say.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater Police reported making multiple arrests recently including two township locals for charges including driving while intoxicated and marijuana possession.

Bridgewater Police blotter:

On Sept. 9 at 9:49 a.m.: Kaitlyn Anne Thompson, 19, of Bridgewater was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Promenade Blvd. The officer investigating the crash detected the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the interior of Thompson’s vehicle. Thompson was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams. She was also issued the following motor vehicle summonses: careless driving and possession of controlled dangerous substance(CDS) in a motor vehicle. Thompson was processed for the arrest and released with a pending court date in municipal court.

On Sept. 3 at 2:31 p.m.: Michael Callanan, 78, of Ringoes was arrested for DWI in the Somerset Shopping Center Parking Lot. During a welfare check, it was determined that Callanan was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested for DWI and issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, revocation of drivers license for refusal to submit to a breath test and careless driving. Callanan was released and has a pending court date in municipal court.

On Sept. 2 at 10:46 p.m.: Jason McArthur, 42, of Livingston was stopped for motor vehicle violations on Route 202/206 north. During the stop it was determined that McArthur was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested for DWI and issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. McArthur was released and has a pending court date in municipal court.

On Sept. 1 at 11:12 p.m.: Vera Venkata P. Bavanari, 45, of Bridgewater was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Route 22 west. Officers investigating the crash determined the Bavanari was under the influence of alcohol. Bavanari was arrested for DWI and issued the following summonses: DWI, reckless driving, and failure to yield the right of way. Bavanari was released and has a pending court date in municipal court.

On Sept. 4 at 11 p.m.: Aaron B Goodwin, 34, of Bridgewater, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Piscataway. Goodwin was arrested and turned over to Piscataway Police.
