Bridgewater Man ID'd In Fatal Fiery Car Crash
Bridgewater Police said the vehicle had left the roadway, struck a tree and became fully engulfed in flames on Monday night.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Brian Conklin, 22, of Bridgewater was identified as the victim killed in a fiery car crash in the township on Monday night, police said.
Bridgewater Police said a vehicle had left the roadway, struck a tree and became fully engulfed in flames at the intersection of Garretson Road and Hill Lane just after 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Bridgewater Police Lt. Thomas Rice said.
One person, later identified as Conklin, was pronounced dead at the scene. Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office helped to identify Conklin.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time. However, preliminary findings suggest that Conklin was driving at an excessive speed, police said.
Members of the Green Knoll Fire Department and North Branch Fire Department helped put out the fire and members of the Green Knoll Rescue Squad and Martinsville Rescue Squad also helped.

The crash is being investigated by the Bridgewater Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team.
