Mom, Son Team Open Lotus Hand Crafted Art Decor At Bridgewater Commons
The shop features intricate handcrafted art originating from South Asia. Many of the products are produced from wood, brass, and stone.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A Bridgewater mother and son have teamed up to share beautiful artwork highlighting their Indian culture with a store in the Bridgewater Commons.
Sandhya and her son Yajur Monga recently opened Lotus Hand Crafted Art Decor earlier this month as a vendor cart located on the Lower Level of the Bridgewater Commons across from Go! Calendars, Toys & Games.
"In India, we are very diverse and we wanted to bring that and show people all of the diversity that we have," said Yajur to Patch.

Many of the products for sale are produced from wood, brass, and stone. Lotus also features Dhokra Art, a lost wax casting technique that is only present in three or four small tribes and villages.
"They are the only ones who create this art because it is passed down by generations," said Yajur.

Sandhya noted that each piece of art is intricately made by hand and handpainted. They take months to create and no piece is exactly the same.
"You can buy this very box and if we get another one it will not be the same since each piece is handmade. Nothing is mass-produced," said Sandhya.
Products include paintings, stone turtles, Buddha statues, decorative boxes, and many other art pieces using small stones and paint.
