The investigation found that the Toyota driver was making a left turn from Route 206 south onto Belle Mead-Griggstown Road and hit the motorcycle, which was northbound on 206, according to police.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and Montgomery EMS transported the motorcyclist to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick for further treatment. The SUV driver was issued a summons for careless driving, police said. The northbound lane of Route 206 was closed for approximately 40 minutes.
Police responded to Princeton Gardens Apartments on Blue Spring Road at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, after a caller reported her driver's license and vehicle key stolen from her vehicle.
Five minutes later, police received a second report of a vehicle burglary on Scarlet Oak Drive, though no items were reported taken from the vehicle in question. The officers searched the area of Scarlet Oak Drive and River Birch Circle and found that five other vehicles had items taken from them — including ID cards and cash. Police are reminding residents to lock their cars.
The third reported incident was at 11:55 a.m. on Oct. 10, when police and Montgomery EMS responded to Route 206 and Platz Drive for a crash with injury.
Police determined that a 17-year-old driver from Belle Mead was making a left turn onto Route 206 and pulled out in front of another driver going north on 206. Police said the teen's 2016 Toyota Highlander collided with a 2012 VW Tiguan, driven by a 69-year-old Hillsborough woman.
The collision caused the Tiguan to collide with a semi truck and trailer in the southbound lanes of Route 206. The truck driver had swerved to avoid the collision, driving off the roadway and striking a utility pole in the process.
EMS responders examined all the people involved in the crash, and took the semi truck driver (a 42-year-old Tennessee man) to RWJ Hospital - New Brunswick.
The 17-year-old was issued a summons for failing to yield, police said. Route 206 was closed to through traffic for 90 minutes while police investigated.
