Quick Acting Police Stop Home Burglars In The Act, 4 Arrested: Bridgewater Cops

A foot chase began after suspects ran away from a Bridgewater home that police say they were burglarizing on Friday night.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Four people were arrested after Bridgewater Police say they stopped a home burglary in progress on Friday night, announced Bridgewater Township Police Chief John B. Mitzak.

On July 21, while Bridgewater Police Officers were investigating an attempted home burglary in the Finderne Area, they were alerted, to a stolen vehicle that was wanted for residential burglaries in another state, Mitzak said.

Officers were able to find this vehicle in the area of Walters Brook Drive and quickly determined that another vehicle along with three more suspects were actively engaged in a home burglary in the area, Mitzak said.

Three suspects fled the burglary on foot and all were caught near Vanderveer Road. They were charged in connection with the home burglary along with attempted burglaries to two homes in the township.

The following were arrested and charged:

  • Daniel Enrique Garcia Delgado, 29, of Miami, Florida - third-degree, burglary (2 counts), third-degree, conspiracy to commit burglary, fourth-degree receiving stolen property, and a disorderly person offense, possession of burglary tools.
  • Diego Fernando Amando Olorte, 31, of Everett, Washington - third-degree, burglary (2 counts), third-degree, conspiracy to commit burglary, fourth-degree receiving stolen property, and a disorderly person offense, possession of burglary tools.
  • Johan Javier Real Sarmiento, 29, of Fort Collins, Colorado - third-degree, burglary, third-degree, conspiracy to commit burglary, and a disorderly person offense, possession of burglary tools.
  • Brayon Alexander Perez Rojas, 29, of Hialeah, Florida - third-degree, burglary (2 counts), third-degree, conspiracy to commit burglary, fourth-degree receiving stolen property, fourth-degree resisting arrest, and a disorderly person offense, possession of burglary tools.

All suspects were taken to the Somerset County pending a detention hearing.

The Bridgewater Township Police Department was helped at the scene by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department and the Raritan Borough Police Department, along with citizens near the area of the burglary.
