Lazovick is married to his wife Laurie and has two daughters Marisa, 10 and Samantha 6.
“We are honored to have Russ join Bridgewater-Raritan. He brings over a decade of experience and expertise in both administration and instruction,” Board President, Ann Marie Mead stated. “Mr. Lazovick is perfectly suited to refine our goals and make Bridgewater-Raritan a ‘Best in Class’ district.”
Lazovick began his career in education as a teacher of Social Studies, English, and English for Language Learners in Las Vegas, Nevada. He returned to his native state of New Jersey in 2001 to teach High School English, Theater, and Public Speaking in the New Brunswick Public School District.
In 2006, he was appointed to Supervisor of Language Arts, PreK-Grade 12, in the New Brunswick Public School District and just over a year later, he was promoted to the position of Director of Elementary Education, PreK-Grade 8.
From 2009 until 2011, Lazovick served as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction in the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District. While there he created and managed the Literacy and Technology Teams and implemented processes for developing and using student performance data to ensure high levels of performance for all students in all groups.
During his time in the Nutley Public School District, Lazovick led the district through their first five-year strategic plan and initiated new processes for instructional technology, budget development, staffing and professional development. He not only emphasized a push to increase student achievement, but restructured many facets of the district resulting in increasing character development and community service.
Taking his expertise to Bridgewater seemed like a good fit for Lazovick.
“I have many friends who work here and I know how seriously they take education,” Lazovick said of the Bridgewater-Raritan district. “I am looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing how I can help.”
Lazovick is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Rowan University. He has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a Concentration in International Business and Economics and a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a Concentration in English, both from Boston University.
Dr. Daniel Silvia, Assistant Superintendent, who was appointed Interim Superintendent, will continue to serve the role until June 30.
