Bridgewater-Raritan High School To Host College Fair

An estimated 130 institutions, which include four-year and two-year colleges, military services and student travel programs will be present.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Bridgewater-Raritan High School Department of Counseling Services is hosting its Annual College Fair on April 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.

An estimated 130 institutions, which include four-year and two-year colleges, military services and student travel programs will have representatives available to discuss all sorts of information.

"The goal of this event is to provide students with information about post-secondary options that
will best support their personal and professional endeavors in the future," according to a statement from the Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s Department of Counseling Services.

Bridgewater-Raritan High School students and families can speak with colleges as far away as
the University of Oregon and San Diego State University or local schools such as Rutgers University and Raritan Valley Community College.

The event will also provide information about the Digital SATs and the Verto Education, which is
a student travel/gap year program that specializes in ensuring that student's credits transfer to
college after their gap year.

According to the high school’s Counseling Department, for the first time ever, Bridgewater-
Raritan High School will use StriveScan, which is a digital means of sharing student information
with the vendors.

The students will register ahead of time, and when a student visits a college table, the rep will
scan the student's QR code to receive their information. All information is voluntary and can include basic contact information, demographics and academic info.

The next day, the students in turn receive an email with a list of all the colleges where they
chose to scan, as well as contact info for all those colleges/vendors.

"I am proud to bring this event to BRHS. Due to the busyness in everyone's lives, it can be hard
to visit college campuses during the school year. It is also hard for students to research 'life
after high school' if they don't know where to begin," said Chrysa Staiano, a high school counselor who is the event coordinator. "Therefore, the BRHS College Fair can help give students an opportunity to meet college reps on our own turf, with minimal time and cost."

The event is open to all BRHS students and families, and is free of cost. A student can also sign
up with their school counselor.
