Snow Day Called For Bridgewater-Raritan Students Friday

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Bridgewater-Raritan School District is closed on Friday due to snow.

The district made the decision to fully close all schools on Friday morning.

Due to an increase in statewide cases of COVID-19, the district had switched to virtual on Jan. 3 and then half days for the remainder of this week.

On Thursday, the district announced it would return to full-day in-person instruction as of Monday, Jan. 10.

Snow began falling overnight with the township expected to get somewhere between 3 to 5 inches on Friday.

Here is a look at the upcoming forecast:

Friday: Snow likely, mainly before 9 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 33. West wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 14. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 33. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 20. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph.

Sunday: Rain likely, mainly after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: A chance of rain, possibly mixing with snow after 1 a.m., then gradually ending. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
